Hank Steinbrenner speaks out … what else is new?

“Red Sox Nation?” Hank says. “What a bunch of [expletive] that is. That was a creation of the Red Sox and ESPN, which is filled with Red Sox fans. Go anywhere in America and you won’t see Red Sox hats and jackets, you’ll see Yankee hats and jackets. This is a Yankee country. We’re going to put the Yankees back on top and restore the universe to order.”

Swiped from the NY Times.

While Hank can have a big mouth at times, he makes a great point. ESPN is based in Connetticutt. 99.9% of the people who work there are Red Sox fans. They need to hire more Yankee fans (like me) to try and balance things out a little bit. Or at least the sports casters need to stop being so Boston-biased. There are fans who like other teams besides the Red Sox. I guess they can’t get that through their thick heads up in CT.

In football, the Cowboys are America’s team, although I beg to differ. In baseball, I do believe the Yankees are America’s team. Of course, there are many bandwagon Yankee fans. Any team in any sport who’s winning at the time has bandwagon fans. Don’t forget those female fans who only watch sports for the “hot athletes” and wear pink jerseys or hats. That aggravates me so much. At least wear your teams colors so you don’t look like an idiot. Anyway, back to my point. The Yankees have the biggest current stadium, and sell out many a times during the season. They have the highest attendance record practically every year. I can’t even tell you how many people I see wearing the Yankee logo every day. There’s no doubt the Yankees are the most popular team. Fans either love them or love to hate them. There’s no in-between when it comes to the New York Yankees.

“We’re going to put the Yankees back on top and restore the universe to order.”

With all the youth aboard, lets hope so Hank. Lets hope so.
